Which Flag Do You Pick - By Tiare

Today, LS2 were thinking about changing the flag. Everyone had different opinion´s. Some people voted for the old flag and some people voted for the new flag. My opinion was that the flag should not change because it costs lots of money and that money could be used else where, it is kind of disrespecting the soldiers who fought under New Zealand official flag, it has been that flag for a long time now and I don want it to change and it has been recognized world wide.

Describing The Scene DRAFT - By Tiare

Describing The Scene
  • At a farm
  • Surrounded by long grass
  • Winter morning
  • Girls gossiping
  • Hiding by the trees
  • The clothes are from a while ago
  • Girls and Boys
  • Terrified
  • Corrugated Iron
  • Running away from something or someone

DRAFT - Of 9 Sentences
One winter morning, both of the boys and girls were playing with each other like every morning until they saw a figure trying to hide. They started running away with a terrified look on their faces. As they were running they came past a little hut made out of corrugated iron. Once they saw no sign of the figure they went to hide behind the trees that were right in front of their eyes. As soon as they made it some of the girls started chattering to each other until they heard a most unusual sound. It sounded like a person that desperately needed help. They heard it again so they went to check it out. They had a look but it was just a speaker trying to get their attention. They started laughing.

Here is my DRAFT of 9 Sentences. It tells you a story about kids they were visited by a stranger. I have bullet point on the top because that was my brain storm or thinking.

Different Maths Strategy's (Thinking) - By Tiare

Here are my pictures. They are 3 different kinds of strategy's that bI would use if I was stuck trying to solve something. I think these really help me because they are easy to use. Sometimes I forget to use these strategy's but, it's only when I have something else in mind, if you wanted to try one of these strategy's that would be amazing. Just keep on practicing.

Pumpkin Story - By Tiare

The Pumpkin Soup Story.

One day, Nathan wanted some pumpkin soup. So he asked his Grandad if they could get a pumpkin. Instead his Grandad said “Why don’t we just grow our own?”.

First off Grandad started by turning the soil to plant the seeds. When Grandad dug the holes Nathan planted the seeds and put some soil on top of them so that the pumpkins could grow. After they planted the seeds they waited for a long period of time. After a few weeks the pumpkin plants flowered and then they left it to grow for 3 months, and every time they looked at the pumpkins they grew bigger and bigger each time.

After they had finished growing Nathan took the pumpkin out of the soil and took it into the kitchen. They gave it a nice rinse so that it could be clean to start cooking with, because there was some soil still stuck on it. Then they got their cooking supplies ready. Nathan grabbed the pumpkin and gave it to Grandad to cut it into pieces. Before he cut the pumpkin Nathan said “Safety first Grandad” so Grandad put some gloves on and cut his first piece. He made sure that his fingers weren't too close to the knife when he was cutting it. Nathan thought Grandad was struggling so he asked Grandad if he was alright, but he gave no answer. Nathan was pretty sure that Grandad was having trouble, he had sweat running down his face in little droplets of water, arms and fingers shaking as he cut his first piece. Luckily he was fine, he said to Nathan “Sorry Nathan I did hear you but I couldn't answer you because I would lose my focus, but now I’m not worried any more” so he just carried on cutting pieces until there was no more pumpkin left to cut.

Once Grandad finished cutting the pumpkin he grabbed a pot, put the pumpkin in, turned on the stove and started adding some tasty ingredients to go with it, so that it wouldn't just taste like pumpkin it would taste like pumpkin and flavouring. Grandad kept on stirring it until it looked like it was ready. Nathan was really hungry and excited because he has been waiting for a long time to eat his homemade pumpkin soup.

Once Grandad finished cooking the pumpkin soup he took it off the stove, and slowly poured it in 2 bowls. Grandad took the bowls to the table, and Nathan could smell how good the soup was.  He grabbed a spoon and ate it. The soup was delicious and he said “ Yummy soup, Grandad.”. Grandad enjoyed it as well, he thought it was very tasty and delicious.

Here is my Pumpkin Story, Miss Kirkpatrick showed her writing group a Pumpkin Story but we had to write it in our own words. This activity was really fun because we get to add our own interesting words, and it's kind of like an narrative.

Comment To Cecillia (Stretching Sentences) - By Tiare

Here is my comment to Cecillia. I really liked how she turned a boring old sentence into something interesting. So she first started off by she danced, then it turned into As the sun rose, She danced slowly through the garden, Trying to find her true love. I'm so glad Mrs Anderson taught LS2 this because it helps me with my work and it's very easy to do.

Art Photo - By Tiare

Here is my Kaleidoscope Art Photo. We did this with Miss Kirkpatrick, she showed LS2 how make this. First off we had to fold a piece of paper into a squared shape so that it could be even and it made four triangles. After that we had to draw the letters of our name into one of the triangle and then keep on doing it on the others, but we had to do it on the window so that we could trace it and we had to fold it all the time. When we had to colour it in for example if you used a hot colour to colour in your letters then you would have to put a cold colour for your background and there you have it your name reflected on each triangle.

Does Problem Solving Only Happen In Maths - Tiare

Here is my Paragraphs about Problem Solving and my comment that Halatoa had wrote. It tells you that Problem Solving is not only in maths it can be everywhere you go, you might see people trying to figure out a maths problem or trying to figure out how much money she/he needs to get that amount of money. Sometimes people don't even bother to get the money ready they just wait until the shopkeeper tells them the price then they find the money, I think it is a waste of time because if your in a rush you might just want to get the money ready so that you don't waste you time trying to find it. I say no because problem solving is all over the world people do it everyday but you don't know the time they do it.
