LS2 2016 - By Tiare

Here is a Collage of LS2 2016. The year has been fun as a year 8, and I will remember all the memories of Panmure Bridge School, and look back on everything I did. I achieved one of my goals this term, and it is to build my confidence. I think my confidence will grow more and more when I am at year 9. Throughout the year there has been some up's and down's, but most importantly we got threw it and changed our ways. The thing I liked most about this year was learning important things that most people don't know about, working collaboratively with people I usually don't work with and having fun. This year has been a great year for me and I can't wait to go to college and use the things that I learnt during the years I have been at Panmure Bridge School.

Straw Rocket Fair Test - By Tiare & Mishaan

On Friday we went to Tamaki College for the hole day. First half we did our normal tech then we had morning tea. After we had morning tea we went into Mr Dunn classroom and he showed us video clips of rockets take off. After we watched the video clips we started by getting the equipment to make the straw rockets and clicked on the video of how to make it. After we made the straws we went outside and there was a measuring tape lied out on the ground so when we blow on the straw the rocket will release and the place it lands it will be marked and put in our results.

Tahuna Torea - By Juanita & Tiare

Here is a Film about the Tahuna Torea trip that Juanita and I created. For the past few weeks we have been learning about God-wits migrating to New Zealand. God-wits/Kuaka Bird come to New Zealand to have a rest and when the time comes they will migrate to another country. The Kuaka Bird migrates to places because of low food sources/refueling stops. Everyone had lots of fun and learnt interesting stuff about the Kuaka Bird/God-wit.

Multimodal Reading - By Tiare

Today we did Reciprocal Reading, about Kuaka Birds/God Wits. What we had to do was, go to the story "The Marathon Bird".  After that we had to pick a leader for the my group, the first group leader was Sebastian. First we had to make a prediction of what's going to happen, next we had to clarify which means we had to ask if there was words we were unsure with, then we had to ask questions about the story. The last thing we had to do was summarize so we had to summarize the story of what happened. Then we would from there we would pick another leader but it would go anticlockwise.

Pigeons Follow Up - Group A - By Tiare

Here is a Reading Follow Up that Victoria, Mishaan, Manu, Fifita, Nesi and I created. In the last week we have been focusing on Pigeons as our Follow Up Challenge. We communicated in the activity by each one of us doing something different so we wouldn't be stuck doing the same one. We used teamwork and helped each other do things so it could be done properly. Sometimes we had to go over some sentences because they didn't make sense but in the end we got them done. After we had finished doing our opinions we went outside by the playground and with the help of Latham he filmed us saying our opinions.

Panmure Bridge Athletic Day - By Tiare

Here are some photo's of the Athletics Day at Panmure Bridge School. Before we started doing the activities we were first put into year groups. The first activity the year 8's went to was Rob The Nest, Next we went to Hurdles/Sponge relay, then we went to long jump, shot put or softball throw and the last thing we went to was try to get the hola hoop in either the bucket, the cricket fence or the stick. When we did our activities everyone was participating, using the team spirit/teamwork and encouragement. Although it was raining we still had lots of fun.

Hockey - By Tiare

Today we had Hockey lessons. The game we did for a warm up was octopus. After we played that we all gathered together and we got told to stand behind one stick facing the stage. The game we were doing with the hockey sticks was traffic light. Green stands for go, Orange means slow down and Red meant stop. After we trialed the traffic lights we added some more colors for example Purple, Silver and Blue. Purple standed for you to toss the ball side to side but at the same time your going backwards, Silver you have to hit the ball from side to side but your doing it fast and the last color blue you had to keep the ball by your stick and you have to go around in a circle until the color changed. The thing I liked about Hockey was that we could challenge ourselves to do different things and when we did we got better at the skill we were doing. The thing I didn't like about Hockey was they were talking to much and they were teaching us things that we already knew. At the end I enjoyed it and can't wait for the next Hockey lesson.

Attributing Images - By Tiare

Here is a DLO that I created about Attributing Images. It is very important to attribute images because if you don't then you are stealing something that doesn't belong to you. If you do attribute the images it won't be a problem because you are finding out whether or not you can use it.

Smart Footprint: Profile - By Tiare

Here is a google presentation about a learning blog profile. It will give your things like your first name etc. You either have to put a Y or a N for yes and no if you should put them on your blog profile. I think people shouldn't put there personal stuff on they blog profile because once people see it they can track where you live and do awful things.

Facebook, Snapchat And Twitter - By Tiare

Here is a DLO with the age restriction on these sites and resources of where I got the information. When I first searched up the ages for all of these it was quite shocking because I thought it would be older ages for these types of websites. I would make the ages older because if someone says nasty things to them they won't be able to handle it and they might do something that most people might do (commit suicide).

Cyber Smart Game - By Tiare

Before
webcam-toy-photo70.jpg
After
webcam-toy-photo69.jpg

Think about the following questions…

  • How could changing your appearance slightly be helpful in protecting your identity?
  • What does using a tool like befunky.com make you think about the images of famous people you see online?
  • When should you NOT use editing tools to change your appearance?

Talk with a partner and share your responses.

Here is another one of my cyber smart challenges. It was a challenge of taking a photo of yourself and changing the way you look. For me this challenge was quite easy to work with but sometimes I got things wrong and I had to restart it again 2 times because I did a mistake. In the end it turned out really good and I think this was a great challenge, people make mistakes.

Hyperbole - By Tiare

Here is a DLO that I created which is about Hyperbole. It shows you examples of a hyperbole or a literal. At first I didn't really get what a hyperbole is but it is exaggerating a sentence which is not meant to be taken seriously.

Carrying A Chromebook And Ipad - By Tiare

Here is a google drawing about "Carrying Chromebooks and Ipads". My opinion for carrying chrome books and iPad, is you should always have a case for both because if you drop them without a case it will most likely break if you drop it with a case on it could protect it and only have a crack which is better than having things that you need to work in a digital classroom.

Smart Relationships Commenting - By Tiare

Here is my presentation about "Smart Relationships Commenting". What we had to do was go on a website and at the bottom there would be 2 spaces you would fill them in with numbers for example 1 on the top and 10 on the bottom and it will give you number say 5 then you will click on the 5th app and it will take you to either a google presentation or google drawing. When you get one of those it will tell you what to do then all you do is fill it in and post it on your blog and keep on going on.

Paper Planes - By Tiare

Here is a collage on a google drawing that I created. What we had to do was follow the instructions, it went like Mrs A wouldn't talk but she would make a google presentation to follow what we had to do. We were put in groups my group was Victoria, Manu, Nesi, Fifita and Mishaan. We could create any type of plane and after that we could fly it in LS2, on the balcony or on the playground.

Maths Games - By Tiare

Here are screenshots of a maths game that I played with Javeylor. The times tables we were doing was the 7 times tables. I was hard trying to find the number so we just went random placing and I won the game. I was a hard game but luckily I won. It was my first trophy and it is now on the cabinet.

Reading Connections - By Tiare

Here are some screenshots of my reading connections. What we had to do in this game was we would click try it yourself and it will say learn a connection or choose connection. I click choose, after that we start it gives you different questions you pick the one that suits you and then you put it on the slingshot and you would have to right why you think that or make a connection with it. After you push submit it will strong connection or weak connection. Then you have to pick any house and you click it you jump there and that is how you get your points. Then you keep rotating it over until the game is finished.

Tech - By Tiare

For my tech group we do carving. What we had to start off was finishing our "Maori Dream Catcher." It was what we had planned on we had to search up different kind of patterns and designs that we wanted to make our carvings. For most people they were looking for half and half. Once we found what design we made we had to try and fit that into a circle. People were thinking one half they should put a Maori design and the other half they should put a tongan design. At first I was thinking that but I changed my mind and I put it as my family culture which was Cook Island, Maori. So the next time I want to do different art it will be of my families culture.

6 Sentence Story - By Tiare

The Burglar:
One winter night I woke up from the noise coming from downstairs. My heart was beating as I slowly got out of bed. Everyone was asleep, when I mean everyone I mean Mum, Dad, Dezarae, Brenden and Noah.

I heard the sound of smashing glasses and plates, as I realized all the bedroom doors were open so I quickly went to shut them, so they didn’t wake up, then I ran as fast as I could back to my bedroom. As I covered myself with the blanket the noise stopped, I got up again and went to go and have a look, as I walked out to see what was happening there was a figure checking the rooms first he started by checking Brenden and Noah’s room, then Mum and Dad's, Dezarae’s and when he saw the last room he walked towards it making no sound. I quickly hid under the bed, he walked in and he saw that I wasn’t there, so then he noticed I was awake, he saw me under the bed, he walked out and pretended he couldn’t see me.

When I saw him he had a bag filled with junk, he was wearing a black suit, black mask and black shoes, that was when I noticed it was a burglar. He walked back downstairs and I heard the fridge door open. I went down but first I got some safety gadgets. I grabbed a helmet, a bat and some handcuffs to put him down.

I walked downstairs with no fear but with courage, I saw him he was in our house, sitting on our chairs, stealing all of our food. I grabbed the phone put it in my pocket just in case something goes wrong. I tiptoed to the kitchen where he was eating the food, and hid behind the counter. As I waited for him to stop eating I called the police, once he was finished I got up and yelled “WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!!!.” I shouted, he didn’t reply, he quickly ran out, and got a shock as the police were about to arrest him for trespassing on other people’s property and for stealing goods.

As I went back upstairs, Mum and Dad started waking up by the noises from the police sirens. I told mum and dad, “I caught a bad guy in our house and now he is arrested” I said
“I seriously doubt that sweetie, but at the same time we are proud of you.” replied mum.

“Lucky the others ain’t up or else they wouldn’t be able to go to school they would be so tired” said dad.

Here is my narrative about "The Burglar." Most people started with the same sentence, but for me I wanted to do something different. This story tells you about a burglar, for me how did he brake in was something left open or was something shut but never locked. I think writing narratives is fun and good at the same time and you could use the skills you know into your learning.

Hydration And Dehydration (Water) DLO - By Tiare

Here is a Water DlO Mishaan and I created. It tells you about what it is to be hydrated, and what it is to be dehydrated, it also talks about why water helps us. For example, it's a really hot day and my friends and I are playing tag, I feel weak and useless, I need a drink of water, I drink water then I feel energetic I can keep playing tag.

When we were playing the game Mrs Anderson was playing as well, as people will know Mrs Anderson came first.

Stig (Panmure Library) - By Tiare

Last Friday LS1 and LS2 went to the Panmure Library to see Stig. Stig is a person who does audio books for Andy Griffiths. Stig is a kind of person that has humor and makes people laugh. Sometimes he would ask people to come and be a pretend actor, and once they finished doing there acting Stig would give them a CD of the audio book. The only person the got the whole set of the audio book was Afu she won the Chubby Bunny challenge, and sadly Latham lost.

Duffy Assembly - By Tiare

Today was Duffy Assembly and a special member called Henry Tuipea came and visited Panmure Bridge School. He told us that he would always go shopping with his mum on Thursday's during his early life. When his mum and himself went shopping, once his mum saw one of her friends they would talk but they would talk from a distance, far away from each other instead of next to each other. Henry's mum would say "oh son just give me 2 minutes" 2 hours later she would still be talking to her friend. He said to himself " I don't want to wait here for 2 hours" so he saw a library he would pick a book out, check it, thinking it was a DVD and said "hey this is not a DVD" he went to the lady at the desk, and he asked " Miss!!" the lady said "SHH" so then he said "Miss" "why ain't the DVD in the package" she said" it's not a DVD" she said" then the children around him said " I knew it wasn't a DVD I told him Miss" then the boys walked off, afterwards Henry said to the lady " what is it miss" so the lady said "it's a book" so she read the book to him and that was the first book he read. Every Thursday when he and his Mum went shopping he would always go to the library to read some books. Once he chose a book there was someone talking loud, he was being disturbed by that person. He went down the back where the person that was being so loud tapped her on the shoulder. As she turned around, she had long black hair, big brown eyes, and joo joo lips. Then the girl goes "what do you want" then all Henry does is laugh, the next thing she does is say's it again, then Henry is still laughing, so she walks out of the library. About 3 years later Henry is 14 years old he is still going to the library. He chooses a book, and there is someone who is being loud. He walks down the back and he taps her shoulder and all of a sudden it is the same girl from the last time he saw her. She turns around and say's "hey". Henry still remember's her and he said to her "can I ask you a question" the girl says "yes" then a few seconds later he says to her "can I read that book after you have finished" she drops the book and she stomps out of the library, he hasn't seen her ever since. The book that she dropped was a book from William Shakespeare, it was the book Romeo and Juliet. Henry said that was what made the journey of his life.

Mr Ogilvy set us a pace to run for the whole entire laps once we came to the last lap we had to sprint the finish. The first time we ran we did 1 lap and after that we added some more laps on. We ran around the whole field at school. We did Cross Country for endurance, which is to keep ourselves fit.

Sketch Note - By Tiare

Here is some photo's of sketch note. The first sketch note was Athletes, then it was questions, Then we did Rio, and the last sketch note we did was Olympic Medals. Sketch note helped us understand the learning because no body else had to understand it only yourself, you could either do it in words or pictures.
Our LI: Create a sketch note to recall information in our own words or pictures.
Sketch note helps us to keep ourselves focused and listen, you could make up a story using pictures that you can retell.

Fraction Strategies - By Nazella & Tiare

Here is a Fraction DLO. It tells you 3 different kinds of strategies. Once we had finished doing our book work, we did a DLO about different strategies people would use to solve fractions, for example.
2/5 of 25 = 10

What I did first was skip count in 5's until I got to 25, then I do division so that would give me 5 then I skip count in 5's 2 times then it would give me the answer which was 10.

This strategy could help me for a lot of things such as sharing a bar of chocolate if people want some or even pizza. I feel very proud of myself, now that I know how to use fractions, I could use them where ever and when ever.

Run, Jump, Throw - By Tiare

Today we had run, jump, throw with Andy. First we started by warming ourselves up so that we were energized to do the skills, we started off with a game of octopus to get us started. The thing we were focusing on today was high jump, we had to form a line against the wall. We had to line up boy girl then Mrs A would split us up into 2 teams. Both of our teams had to do the scissor kick to get over the bar but before we did that we practiced by standing a line, then we had to do left left, right right. It meant that you would do the scissor kick but doing it like jumping the line but also putting the foot that is closest to the line and do the jump and then let the other leg follow it. We did it over and over again until we got use to it. One team side was jumping right right, and the other side was jumping left left. The side I got use to was right right, because it was much easier to jump over the bar, no like the other one, it was to hard I couldn't lift my leg over the bar. Some people made it over the bar when it got higher but unfortunately I didn't because I could only reach the lower bar.

Ryan Hoffman & John Palavi - By Tiare

Today we had some visitors from the warriors come to Panmure Bridge School. What we did they did was hand out some spot prizes and played Trivia (quizzes). Georgia was the one who was running trivia. What you do in trivia is on the screen you will see the wheel spin the after a few seconds it would stop and come up with a category linking to what they do, But before we started spinning the wheel we had to come up with our own chant, we were split into 2 teams one was Ryan Hoffman's team and one was John Palavi team. Ryan's one was HOFFY! for the chant and John's one was JP!. Georgia span the wheel and the first thing it came up with was Hydration. What we had to do was shout out our chant the loudest and if she picks one of our teams then we can answer the question we have to answer about hydration. The next category was sleep, we did the same rotation as the other one shout the loudest see who gets picked then give the answer. The lucky last one was belonging, they talked about where we belong. John Palavi said he belonged to a family, Ryan Hoffman said he belonged to the warriors. The students said they belong to school, there netball team and t home. To finish off the session with them we had to say our chant the loudest for 30 seconds and of course JP won. After they were done for the session we took some photo's at the end, some people even got to get a hand shake with them.

Current Events (Olympic Spirit) - By Tiare

Here is my Current Events about The New Zealander Nikki Hamblin who helped Abbey D'Agostino. As she was racing down the Olympic tracks she was tripped. What happened was she had help from Nikki Hamblin as she had torn her ligaments. Which means you can't walk on your leg properly. She was put to safety and was seated in a wheel chair. She kindly thanked her and she was leaving the tracks.

Netball Inter-school Cluster Day - By Tiare

On Thursday 17 August 2016, the year 5,6,7, and 8's did the inter-school netball. The first team we versed was Ruapotaka, then Tamaki Primary, Glen Innes, Stone fields, and the last team we played was our own school unfortunately we lost by 2 points.
I played with the year 5 and 6 team because there was only 6 players and I looked like one we won 3 games in total. Sometimes we had a hard time getting to our goal but in the end we made it.

Before And After Provocation - By Tiare

Here is a DLO about "Should host countries have to spend so much money on building Olympic Venues". I said no because it is a waste of time and money and once they build it they only use it for a short amount of time. Why build something your only going to use for a short period of time.

Maths Challenges - By Tiare

Here is all of my maths challenges. I did some medium challenges, hard challenges and really hard challenges. I think it was challenging and it helped me a lot as well. Once I did the hard ones I started to get use to it. This helped me a lot with my maths.

Olympic Games - By Tiare

When the Olympic DLO's were laminated I had help from Mishaan to put them on the wall. Once I finished that Mrs A put some flags on the wall to make it decorative.
